Faith Evans’s parents are non-other than Richard Swain and Helene Evans. She was born to African American mother who is a professional singer, and along with that, her father was a musician of English and potential Italian descent.

Her father left her before she was born. When she was 19 years old, her mother returned to New Jersey and left Faith with her cousin. She was being raised by foster parents, where there were almost 100 children.

Talking about her childhood, she was raised in a Christian home, and from there, she began singing at church at age two. At the age of 4, she got the attention of the congregation of the Emmanuel Baptist Church. 

When she was in University, she sang with a different Jazz band, whereas her mother encouraged her. She sang so beautifully and was praised by all the people for her talent.
