Before his “Great White Open Ocean” fame, he was mainly known for appearing in “Shark Week” on the same channel.

Per his IMDb, Jimi appeared in a total of seven episodes of the long-run show from 2014 to 2020. This shark expert appeared as himself, exploring the world of the giant white creatures through his experience as a shark diving expert.

After his long time with the show, the Discovery documentary has shown a different side of his time in the ocean.

The docu-movie was produced and directed by Jeff Kurr, Jimi’s close friend throughout these years. In the docu, there is a scene where a 16-foot shark attacks Jimi while he is inside a box exploring the sharks.

To add to the life-threatening accident, this shark expert had used a Perspex box instead of a metal cage.

Thus, the attacker shark easily broke through the box; thankfully, Jimi missed being its prey by a few centimeters. 7 News reports that Jimi had never faced such a near-to-death experience with sharks but is thankful for his life today.

Jimi Partington did not get a stroke during that particular incident, but it is suitable for one to say that the attack could give anyone a stroke.

The incident occurred in 2020 when this Shark Week shark expert agreed to film with the “Great White Open Ocean.”

After the 16-foot white female predator struck his box, Jimi was lucky not to have landed near the shark’s mouth. He became alerted quickly and swam to the nearby rescue boat.

The documentary’s promotional poster involves Jimi in his full diving suit inside the Perspex box. While the incident has shaken him and the entire viewers, this near-death experience adds another thrill to Jimi’s adventurous life.
